Probate Solicitors – Support When You Need It Most
Probate is the legal process of dealing with someone’s estate after they die — validating the Will, settling debts, and ensuring assets are passed to the right people. It can be complex, emotional and time-consuming, but you do not have to manage it alone.
Our specialist probate solicitors guide executors, families and beneficiaries through every stage of the process with clarity, compassion and practical expertise.
Whether you need help with one part of the journey or complete estate administration, we tailor our service to your situation.
Probate, Done Your Way
No two estates are the same. Some clients want reassurance and guidance; others want a solicitor to manage everything from start to finish. That’s why we offer a flexible, tailored approach to probate work.
You choose the level of support you need. We can act for you throughout the process or assist only with specific tasks such as obtaining the Grant of Probate, valuing assets, or preparing HMRC forms.
We will always provide upfront, transparent costings and keep you informed of any factors that may affect the original estimate.

Timescales
Probate timescales vary depending on the complexity of the estate and whether Inheritance Tax or claims are involved.
As a general guide:
-
Simple estates: 6–12 months
-
More complex estates: 12–24 months
-
Claims against an estate: Beneficiaries have 6 months from the Grant of Probate to make a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975
The estate cannot be fully distributed until after this claim period has passed.
In the event of a dispute, known as contentious probate, we can assist. We are specialists at dealing with Inheritance Disputes, and can work with you to ensure the best possible outcomes.
